Barrister & Solicitor
Kathleen is an experienced mediator and litigator with a long track record in arbitration, Provincial Court, Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal. Her extensive experience in divorce litigation and mediation has established Kathleen’s expertise in property division, asset division, as well as spousal and child support.
Kathleen has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Lethbridge and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Alberta. Alongside her education, Kathleen brings a collaborative approach to her clients, helping them to find clarity in their decisions.
Along with educating her clients, Kathleen has also taught as an adjunct professor at Lethbridge University, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology and for Alberta Justice (Parenting After Separation Course).

Machelle joined Wells Family Law in August 2019. She obtained her BA Law and LLB degrees at the University of Stellenbosch South Africa, where she graduated on the Dean’s List, an honour which is bestowed to the top 20 graduates in their final year. Later in her career, she obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M, Environmental Law) at the University of Cape Town. In South Africa, she practiced at a national firm for seven years where she focused on real estate law, corporate and commercial law as well as wills and estate law.
Her Canadian law experience and practice span a broad range of fields including family and divorce law, wills and estate law, corporate and commercial law and real estate law.
Machelle is passionate about helping people with their legal needs. She is motivated and driven to help her clients to reach their best possible outcomes, in the most cost-effective and efficient way. She has represented clients in the Court of Queen’s Bench as well as the Provincial Court of Alberta. She is committed to giving back to the profession of law and the community at large and has done so by serving many clients through Legal Aid. Machelle continues to welcome new clients.
Casey joined Wells Family Law as an Articling Student in 2017, and continued on as an Associate. She practices family law exclusively, and focuses on finding efficient and cost-effective solutions for clients, which includes alternative dispute resolution and litigation practices. She is on the roster for Legal Aid Alberta and volunteers with Calgary Legal Guidance to help assist clients in financial need.
Casey completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Calgary and her Juris Doctor at Thompson Rivers University. Prior to attending law school, Casey worked for one of Calgary’s largest law firms for six years, where she developed a wide array of skills specializing in research and document management. During her years at Thompson Rivers University, Casey was actively involved as the Events Director and Vice President of the Society of Law Students. She is a current member of the Canadian Bar Association, Calgary Bar Association, Association of Women Lawyers (Calgary) and the Alberta Civil Trial Lawyers Association.
During her spare time, Casey enjoys running, indoor cycling, hot yoga, and spending time with friends and family.

Student at Law
Ivana graduated from Thompson Rivers University in 2019 and is excited to begin her legal career by articling at Wells Family Law. Prior to law school, Ivana earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Bachelor of Education. As a former teacher, Ivana understands the importance of resolving matters as reasonably and efficiently as possible, always keeping in mind the interests of the children.
Ivana was drawn to family law because she enjoys working closely with clients and helping individuals through difficult periods in their lives. Her involvement with the Community Legal Clinic at TRU, together with her volunteering with Pro Bono Law Alberta have helped foster a desire to help people from all walks of life, and she looks forward to continuing this involvement in the community as she establishes her practice.
Outside of the office, Ivana enjoys travelling, good coffee and spending time outdoors.
