Shivdeep Mehta

Shivdeep is profoundly dedicated to guiding individuals through the complexities of the legal process during what indisputably constitutes a challenging period in their lives. Shivdeep is devoted to ensuring that his clients not only receive legal support but also encounter a level of care and understanding that transcends the confines of the courtroom.

Born and raised in the State of Punjab, India, Shivdeep earned a Bachelor of Commerce from Panjab University, Chandigarh, and graduated with a Bachelor of Laws in 2018 from University of Delhi, New Delhi.

During law school, Shivdeep dedicated all six semesters to volunteering at the Legal Services Society (LSS), run by the law school, which provided free legal aid to low-income and vulnerable individuals in society. Elected as Co-Convenor in his second year and then as Convenor in his third year, Shivdeep played a pivotal role in LSS winning the 3rd GNLU Annual Legal Services Clinic Award during his tenure. In recognition of his contributions to LSS, Shivdeep was honored with the ‘Student Achievement Award’ in 2018. He also actively participated in moot court competitions, quiz competitions, and international conferences.

Upon graduating, Shivdeep focused his practice on litigation, handling numerous pro bono cases. He practiced family, civil, and administrative law matters at the highest Appellate Court of the State of Punjab, India, before permanently relocating to Canada.

Before joining Wells Family Law as an Articling Student, Shivdeep obtained the Certificate of Qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of The Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Additionally, he completed the Legal Assistant Program at SAIT, Calgary, to gain in-depth knowledge and understand the intricacies of Canadian Law. In recognition of his academic excellence in the Legal Assistant program, Shivdeep was inducted as a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Society. He also gained valuable experience working as a legal assistant in Family Law under the guidance of a reputed senior family counsel in downtown Calgary.

Beyond the office, Shivdeep is an avid traveler, music enthusiast, and movie buff. He enjoys exploring new eateries and trying different cuisines. Shivdeep is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi and can also assist clients in Urdu.
